This 1/2-hard, .900 platinum rectangle sizing stock is named for its use in enlarging rings. Additionally, this wire is popular for shaping rings and cuff or bangle bracelets using metal-forming techniques.1/2-Hard stock is partially work-hardened and will hold its shape under some stress; ideal for forming structures that will support other components. Keep in mind that hardness is changeable (by annealing or heat-hardening) and is relative among metal types (each temper will feel and handle differently from one metal to another). When finishing your pieces, also keep in mind that the harder the metal is, the brighter a finish it will take. Grayish-white platinum is a precious metal prized for its density and durability. Jewelry made from platinum is extremely strong, ideal for designs that need to stand up to daily wear, and is hypoallergenic, ideal for customers with metal sensitivities.
